I have spent almost 20 years working in the defence sector. I can offer my experince how to approch a career in a male-dominated business. DOs and DONTs.
I have started my career in the defence sector in 2003 in Sofia, Bulgaria as an office manager at BAE Systems.
Even though I have been working for Saab since 2006, I enjoyed being exposed to new things and positions all the time. I was offered to start my journey as a manager in the company in 2013. This required moving with the whole family to Prague. In 2016 I was promoted to Head of Country Unit Central Europe and my region and responsibilities grow ever since. I am also a Vice President of the Nordic Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic.
What do YOU DO to be SEEN & HEARD?
I am always active participant at meetings and discussions. I like to challenge the status quo and to move discussions further. I always sit in front and I am never afraid to speak up.
What kind of CHANGE you would like to SEE & MAKE?
I would like to help women feel confident that they can reach their potential in their carriers while having a family and taking acre of kids. I would like to see more women in leading positions not only in the traditional business support functions but all areas of business.
What kind of CHALLENGES are the most imporant in 2023?
With the strained economical and political situation in Europe, we should not loose the focus on equality, diversity and sustainability.
What are the topics that are not publicly spoken, but it definitely should be?
The limiting beliefs and norms and the social presure when it comes to women and their roles in the society.
What would your younger YOU should know?
Forget about everything that you have been told as a child when it comes to career, women, how difficult it is to combine family and work.
