About me

My name is Lucie Potůčková, I am 48 years old. I studied law at Masaryk University. I am the mayor of Mladé Buky, a member of the Parliament of the Czech Republic for the political party Mayors and Independents, and the Chairperson of the Main Committee for Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.

I am now a candidate for the European Parliament, where I want to strengthen the representation of liberal democracy at a time when support for the extreme right is growing in Europe. I am working on regional development and issues such as the rule of law and the protection of democracy. I want to motivate and encourage women not to be afraid to enter politics. My personal and political role models from history are Frantiska Plaminkova, the brave Czech politician who stood up for women’s rights and the promotion of women’s associations and paid with her life in 1942, and my personal role model today is Maia Sandu, the President of Moldova, an extremely inspiring and strong woman in European politics – and by that I do not mean her political views, but her demeanor and her feminine determination to change things.
I have two beautiful and clever children.
