Empowering Women Entrepreneurs: Building Sustainable SMEs through Circular Economy Practices
I am a dedicated leader with over 20 years of experience in operational management, specializing in women’s empowerment and economic development. Currently, as the Head of Programs at the Association of Business and Professional Women of Moldova, I advocate for gender equality and build partnerships to promote women’s interests globally.
I chose this topic because it intersects significantly with the pursuit of gender equality, a principle central to the Equal Pay Day initiative. Addressing the urgent need for sustainable business models while promoting women’s economic empowerment can play a pivotal role in closing the gender pay gap. Women entrepreneurs are essential to driving economic growth, and equipping them with circular economy principles can enhance their resilience, increase their earning potential, and boost their overall impact.
Participants will learn about the fundamentals of the circular economy, including strategies for waste reduction, resource efficiency, and sustainable supply chains—all of which can lead to higher profitability and competitive advantage for SMEs. They will gain insights into how to implement these practices in a way that not only contributes positively to their communities and the environment but also supports equitable income generation.
Together, we will develop practical toolkits and action plans for integrating circular economy strategies into their businesses while considering the importance of fair compensation and equitable practices. Participants will engage in hands-on workshops, peer-to-peer sharing sessions, and mentorship aimed at overcoming barriers that can hinder women’s entrepreneurial success. This collaborative effort will foster an entrepreneurial mindset that emphasizes sustainability, innovation, and strong advocacy for equal pay.
Ultimately, they will leave empowered with actionable skills, a broadened network, and a deeper understanding of how to build sustainable, impactful businesses—and how this contributes to the larger fight for gender equality and fair compensation in the workplace.
